Patio & Brick Sealing in Macomb County, MI
Over time, paver patios, brick walkways, and hardscape areas can fade, shift, and
collect weeds in the joints. JC Lawnscaping LLC pressure washes (where appropriate),
sands, and seals your brick and paver surfaces so they look sharp again and stay
protected from the elements.
Locally owned & fully insured
Serving homeowners across Macomb County, MISimple scheduling, clear communication, and no surprise charges.
Why Cleaning & Sealing Helps
Pavers and bricks are exposed to sun, rain, salt, and foot traffic year-round.
Without maintenance, joints wash out, surfaces stain, and color fades.
- Pressure washing removes dirt, algae, and old grime
- Helps lock sand in the joints after cleaning
- Reduces weed growth between pavers
- Helps protect from staining and weathering
- Improves overall appearance and richness of color
Where It Makes the Biggest Difference
Sealing is especially impactful in high-visibility and high-traffic areas where
you notice fading, shifting, or weeds most.
- Front walks and entryways
- Backyard patios and entertaining areas
- Poolside pavers and seating areas
- Driveway borders and accents
Surface Cleaning & Pressure Washing
We clean the surface to remove dirt, mildew, and loose debris so the sealer
bonds properly and looks even. On most patios and walkways, this includes
professional pressure washing or surface cleaning.
- Rinse and wash to remove grime and buildup
- Pressure washing or surface cleaning where appropriate
- Prep to receive new joint sand and sealer
Joint Sanding
Where needed, we add sand back into the joints between pavers so they’re
supported and ready for sealing.
- Refill low or washed-out joints
- Use appropriate joint sand for pavers
- Prepare joints for sealer lock-in
Professional Sealer Application
We apply sealer at the proper coverage rate so surfaces are protected without
being over-applied or patchy.
- Even application across the surface
- Help protect from weather and staining
- Enhance paver and brick appearance
Not every surface is a good fit for sealing. During your estimate, we’ll look at
the condition of your patio or walkway and let you know if cleaning, pressure
washing, and sealing are recommended—and what kind of results you can realistically
expect.
Better Results When You Seal
Sealing over a dirty surface locks in stains, algae, and grime. Pressure
washing first gives you a fresh surface and helps the sealer bond more evenly.
- Removes dirt, algae, mildew, and old buildup
- Helps prevent sealing contaminants into the surface
- Improves adhesion and consistency of the sealer
- Makes colors “pop” more once sealing is complete
Clean the Whole Outdoor Area
When we’re already there to seal your patio or brick, adding pressure washing
lets you clean surrounding hard surfaces at the same time.
- Optional washing of nearby walkways or steps
- Great for decks and adjacent concrete areas
- Gives your entire outdoor space a refreshed look
- Can reduce slippery algae on frequently used surfaces

Why should I seal my paver patio or brick walkway?
Sealing helps protect pavers and brick from weathering, staining, and joint wash-out.
It also helps lock joint sand in place and can enhance color, giving older surfaces
a refreshed look. While sealing isn’t required, it can extend the life and
appearance of your hardscapes.
Is pressure washing included with patio and brick sealing?
In most cases, yes. We include surface cleaning and pressure washing or surface
cleaning as part of the prep for sealing so we’re not sealing over dirt, algae,
or buildup. For heavily soiled or surrounding areas—like steps, retaining walls,
or nearby concrete—we may recommend additional pressure washing as an add-on so
everything looks clean and consistent.
How often does a patio or brick surface need to be resealed?
In our area, many surfaces benefit from resealing every few years, depending on
traffic, sun exposure, and the type of sealer used. During your estimate, we can
give a realistic expectation based on your specific patio or walkway.
Do you always re-sand the joints before sealing?
If joints are low, washed out, or uneven, we’ll add sand before sealing so the
pavers are properly supported and joints look consistent. If your joints are
already in good shape, we may not need to add much sand—this will be reviewed on
a case-by-case basis.
Will sealed pavers or brick be slippery?
Most quality sealers designed for pavers and brick are made to balance protection
with traction. We apply sealer according to manufacturer guidelines, and we avoid
heavy over-application that can create glossy or slick spots.
What weather conditions are needed for sealing?
Sealing requires dry conditions and appropriate temperatures for the sealer to
cure properly. If rain or poor weather is in the forecast, we’ll reschedule to
make sure the surface has time to dry and cure correctly.
How long before I can walk or drive on a sealed surface?
Light foot traffic is usually allowed after the initial cure period, while
vehicle traffic (for applicable areas) typically requires more time. We’ll give
you specific guidance based on the product used and conditions on the day of
service.
Can you seal concrete too, or just pavers and brick?
Our primary focus is paver and brick surfaces, but some concrete surfaces may
also be candidates for cleaning and sealing. We’ll let you know during the
estimate whether your concrete area is a good fit for the products we use.
